You have to go back to the late Rothenberg to get anything as authoritative on the Austrians.

I know what you mean about 'Histoire et Collections' books by Mssr Hourtuolle too - I've got the ones on Wagram, Moscowa (Borodino) & Jena, Austerlitz and they put the Ospreys to shame when it comes to graphics of the uniforms and illustrations - a wonderful reference. Definitely money better spent than on Ospreys or (perish the thought)'impressionable young ladies'... ahem!

Congrats too on your 50,000 hits milestone - its all your fault for having such an interesting blog!

Cheers,
DocDoc Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12454394616689797734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486634797266444464.post-29478303930527929982010-06-13T20:00:42.862+01:002010-06-13T20:00:42.862+01:00That Waterloo book is quite amazing in its detail....That Waterloo book is quite amazing in its detail. I'm afraid I'm one of those who has always been hooked on Waterloo but I would loce to see something in the same vain on Borodino for instance.

Ian

Er..um which way do you turn after leaving Folyes?Strykerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14258922461691204362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486634797266444464.post-1956678739477219292010-06-13T16:15:39.760+01:002010-06-13T16:15:39.760+01:00Your productivity is amazing and the Austrians loo...Your productivity is amazing and the Austrians looks great.

I am stating to paint Austrians now, but I think I will avoid the helmeted ones.

Congratulation on hitting 50,000.

Johnjohn de terre neuvehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03898285039988448895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486634797266444464.post-73793104356866255822010-06-13T15:43:45.381+01:002010-06-13T15:43:45.381+01:00Congratulations on your 500 figure milestone and y...Congratulations on your 500 figure milestone and your birthday. Yes, I agree that self-presents are the best wargame presents that one can receive on one's birthday.

I wasn't aware of the Essling book, so thanks for the tip on that one - I'll have to buy a copy. I just bought the third volume in the Gill series, haven't read it yet but really enjoyed the first two books.

Your new method of painting looks great on those Hungarians. One of the things that I don't like about painting Austrians is having to paint the details on their helmets. I prefer painting shakos, which seem to be much easier.Der Alte Fritzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01578422757511400566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486634797266444464.post-42402711526677051502010-06-13T15:17:54.130+01:002010-06-13T15:17:54.130+01:00Lovely figures as usual Chris. I was in Foyles a couple of months ago and dipped into the Hanau and Montmirail book, which is what inspired the Hanau type game at Noel's.

Mind you, if I'd known that there were young ladies impressed by middle-aged wargamers just down the road, I might have missed it.Ravenfeederhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06125879004416157097noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486634797266444464.post-31481375130375606572010-06-13T14:17:31.077+01:002010-06-13T14:17:31.077+01:00500 figures year-to-date?, 1,000 by year end!
